Love Poem: He Loves You

He Loves You

He is bleeding
He trudges, tearing up
He loves you with everything he has
But you don’t

He bears a crown of misery
As he longs after you
Reaching, pleading, hoping, weeping,
But you toss him aside.

Others mock him
They don’t understand
His eternal, never-failing perseverance
Of the one who rejects him

They drag him in his demise
Now that they know his weakness
That he will do anything, anything, anything for you
And you join them

Parading him around in his anguish,
They guffaw, scorning and mocking
Pounding metal into his wrists knowing he will die for love
The love you won’t return

He is displayed
For all who pass to be reminded
That all fools will surely be punished for their crimes
The crimes you committed

The Lover perishes
With his head hanging
Under his blood streaked chest, his ribs heave
You watch him breathe his last

And suddenly
Ever so faintly, and all too late

The remorse comes.
