He Gave Her a Book
it was the last thing he gave her
before he had to go away
a book she’d surely treasure
as she’d grow up without dad by her side
he said the world was hers to conquer
as she’d discover in those pages
her dreams would be her prized asset
she’d want to hold them tight
many times she read the book with wonder
and indeed lived her life much like Don Quixote
she strives to see what’s grandiose in daily grind
all the while keeping her precious dad’s memory alive
