Love Poem: Haunted By a Long Lost Love

Haunted By a Long Lost Love

He was my rainbow and my fantasy dream
I met him at a cafe and fell into his eyes
his voice deep like distant thunder

At his tomb I weep, I know
I am- haunted by a long lost love
and I cannot let go

Will not let go ever, never
I said, "I do"- and it was for evermore
with love stronger than death

It happened in a wild winter snow storm
I begged him not to go but he laughed
back in bed I could not sleep
so I made coffee-
a loud knock broke my reverie

He had driven into a ravine
those brown eyes dead
his thunder silenced
he flew to Heaven in the snow
my eagle has flown up and away, away

In dreams I float with hair filigree
he is but sleeping in bed
and opens his eyes
pulling me to him and bruising my lips
at his tomb I weep, I know
I am- haunted by a long lost love
and I cannot let go
ever

People who love me deeply
say- let go, let him rest in peace
move on

At his tomb I weep, I know
I am- haunted by a long lost love
and I cannot let go
will not
