Happy Anniversary
It was a chilly winter’s day,
not unlike today, in fact
the snow, well, it had already been shoveled;
making the roads clear, as my thoughts and
as the view of you.
I recall waiting; anticipation and anxiety were overwhelming.
and all of a sudden there you were.
The image remains a constant picture in my mind.
For no other art is needed as I possess the most beautiful
painting in the world, right in my thoughts.
So beautiful, there was no one else around;
though there were others there.
And I can remember speaking, but don’t remember what was said
as your image controlled my mind and your heart
still controls my heart; I am forever yours.
We were one. We are one. We will always be one.
And our garden, together we planted, it has grown.
Through nourishment and love our seedlings thrive.
They capture the essence of love and the creation of two
when they make one. Thank you, my darling.
You have given me all of these things
And have made me the richest man on the face of the earth.
