Love Poem: Growing Pains

Growing Pains

One spring, within its patient cross
To summer's gain from winter's loss,
With flowers varied colors hue
A girl befriended someone new
in her life.

Someone quite special she had found
To share deep secrets, volumes bound,
Of special thoughts and memories -
The diary's entries no one sees
About her life.

The lines she wrote, the love described,
From quiet streams feelings abide
To heights of mind through swirling tides
Of hopes and dreams fate would decide
For her life.

But Time, intent on taking flight,
Proved just an interloper's sprite
And served exit for errant love
On wings of haste - not Cupid's dove
From her life.

Now wiser, stronger, more content
To deal with love's emolument,
Stands tall with clearer image here -
A woman formed this learning year
Of her life.
