Growing Old In the Light

To grow old with laughter is my true dream,
feel the smile lines grow as frowns fade away.
See my daughter get married with love’s gleam,
sensing pride in her beauty with esteem.
I know I shall perish one sunny day-
but…
growing old with laughter is my true dream.

To grow old with him is my deep desire,
embers of a flame still burn with grey ash.
He bestows the hope my heart does require,
as the wax of a candle fades from fire.
Years may come and our world may start to crash-
but…
growing old with him is my deep desire.

To grow old with comfort is what I yearn,
crave moments of peace where kindness remains.
My blazing love for life shall always burn,
looking back on my life without concern.
Never being a woman who complains-
because…
growing old with comfort is what I yearn.

For all things of light may my future bring-
until heaven comes on an angel's wing.
