Greet Me In Our Old Jalopy

Each crescent moon rewinds time’s notes
to sweep me back to our blessed haven
where long has stayed my peaked essence.
I’d love to be back in our cozy cabin
where so much couple magic happened.

You and I and all our shared yesterday seconds
were love expressed while money distressed
and both such ways were my life’s best days.
We could barely afford a potty when on our
first anniversary you wrapped a Scottie puppy
inside an old jalopy that was red bow capped.
A car some might call shoddy mapped our
young love in freedom’s feelings of happy.

Tonight’s moon knows our seventieth anniversary
has just come and agrees that when my life is done
you’ll greet me with Scottie in our old jalopy.
Soon, my love, please come bind me in eternal love;
then the moon will shine rays of freedom’s happy.
