Grandma's Love

We say that fathers know best.
Against that, I pose no protest.

But mother knew better about love.
And Grandma's love was the BEST by far.

As a child, I did not question family love.
Everyone was busy 'doing', not 'feeling' love.

Love was 'in action', not mere 'emotion on display'.
Let there be no contention about who loves the most.

Let there be an understanding about how we 'receive' love.
I never thought much about whether daddy said, "I love you".

Had daddy said it, perhaps I would be better for hearing it.
But who's to say? I don't know. I only know that 'I was loved'.

Grandma's love left NO questions and filled in ALL the blanks.
Her love gave a positive charge to EVERY sensory nerve in my being.
