Grandma Mary's Unconditional Love-Fv

Everyone needs someone through whose eyes he/she can do no wrong, but it would not be well for that someone to be a mom or a dad of that one. In a mean and often cruel world encased and surrounded by coldness and adversities, there must of necessity be a place of refuge, a haven of rest, a den where there's only love. When civility and credibility have been invaded and reinhabited with 'the uncivil' and incredible dysfunctionalities, where does one go for sacred acceptance and sanctuary? Apart from God, my grandmother was the one rock, the one oak always there for me. Unfortunately, not everyone will have that someone, that one special person. Fortunately, I was most blessed to have such a one as my maternal grandmother whose name was Mary, and she smothered me with love and never ceased coming to my defense. There were two other grandparents with whom I have very little memory, but Mary is the only grandparent I have ever known and with whom I had personal and cherished connections. She never learned to read but read me like a best selling biography. She never learned to write but her love has been written across the pages of my heart. She never took from me, but only gave, asking for nothing in return. Every thought and memory of her is refreshing and compels me to repay her by being the best grandfather that I can be. I am certain that she loved all of my many siblings, but she related to me as if I were the one and only above all others.
