Goodbye - Collaboration

You didn't even wait for my reply
Or for me to even ask why
When you left a teardrop and a sigh
With the note you left that said goodbye

I'm left with just the memories
Of how things used to be
Of moonlit walks beneath the stars
And early morning strolls by the sea

I think you had to know before I left
pearlescent love had somehow turned to gray.
Although I knew that you would feel bereft,
the joy had slipped away; I could not stay.

Those memories, like a red rose pressed
between a keepsake’s pages, cannot die.
Bliss fades, but I’ll recall when love was best
from time to time, and I too, Dear, shall cry
