Love Poem: Good Morning

Good Morning

Good morning, my darling, goodbye.
This is the dawn that calls us away
From dreaming.
I would have stayed with you in the night
But the day pokes in with fingers of light;
Good morning my darling, goodbye.

Good morning, my darling, we tried
To hold back the sun and deny
That time has a meaning.
Like an innkeeper night hid us from view
But the days came as tyrants demanding their due,
Each taking from me a small part of you..

Do you know her, darling? It's pride
Who flings back the curtain and lets
Reality stream in.
Touch her; she's hard. Call her; she's cold
Look at her, how her eyes are bold ...and dry.
It's morning, my darling, goodbye.
