Love Poem: Gone Away

Gone Away

A fragile thing really
So delicate, so small
Shatters like glass
If you let it fall
Shards that cut
Your heart so deep
Make you wish
For an endless sleep
Trust misplaced
Hopes too high
Holding back
Refusing to cry
Like a night without stars
Alone and lost
Only wanting it back
At any cost
Left wondering why
How were you misled
Read the signs so wrong
It was all in your head
Blackness so thick
suffocating, all around
like a looming shadow
No sight, no sound
Cold bitter truth
Your heart won't mend
Nothing hurts worse
Then losing a friend
Icey indifference
Last light dies
Everything you knew
Dark ugly lies
And as I watch you
Again walking away
I wonder why
I bother to stay
Once so close
How can it be
A friendship lost
Only a fading memory
