Love Poem: Going, Going, Gone

Going, Going, Gone

It's Christmas Eve; we're all at home,
While you're in bed you're not alone,
And though we're here and not with you,
We've thought decisions ten times through.

The phone line rings, we get the news,
Oceans away you're close to lose.
7:56, our watches say,
You may not live another day.

So now we cry and soothe and pack,
And Christmas colours all turn black.
We know we cannot find a flight,
So now we're staying up all night.

I write this verse as others cry,
And though I can't, I say goodbye.
Take shallow breaths until the dawn,
Going, going, going,
Gone.
