God's Love
I went to church today
The pastor said a few good things
And I really hate to confess
His words caused a few guilty stings
My life is certainly not perfect
But of course I would like it to be
Although I have a few things right
And it is these things I need to see
I am honest and loyal to a fault
I pray for others when I can
Hopefully they will receive help
From God’s loving hand
But I have so many faults
I need to pray for me
To save my soul from hell
And allow me to be free.
Free to see God’s wonders
And the miracles he can perform
All the things he protects me from
Through life’s thundering storms.
The glorious wonders he allows
Like human kindness I’ve been shown
Makes it all worthwhile in the end
Because God’s love for me is known
