God and the Devil

There is hate in the heart of Man;
that can quickly morph into evil
when envy feeds His insatiable greed;
to get what we want, we’ll conspire, coerce, and bully.
Death is an effective threat,
war is its fulfillment,
and we revel in the dominance and brutality.
So much so that we proclaim it "Man's finest hour,"
celebrating a potent mix of blood and fear.

Politics and the color of our skin separates us;
those that we view as them,
we impulsively smear and condemn.
We're right; they're wrong; there's nothing to discuss.
We instinctively hate what we fear,
but what we fear isn't always straightforward
and some may hesitate to kill,
but if push turns to shove, they will.

Everyone has the inalienable right to exist;
yet Man's indisputable innate aggression
leads one to question,
how God and the Devil coexist.
Man has a pension for committing atrocities,
unfazed by God or moral ethics.
