Love Poem: Gifts of the Morning

Gifts of the Morning

The sunlight glitters through the curtain
Creating small beams of soft light
As we sit eating at the dining room table
A breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes

The morning scents are fresh and sharp
Bacon and coffee and orange juice
With a scent of soap from the showers
We’ve all just had before gathering

After breakfast, we all start toward the door
Ready to be on our way, where we’re going
To school, work, office… wherever we go
There are always these gifts to go with us

Gifts of sharing in the warmth of the sun
As it drifts through the details of a curtain
Gifts of sharing the morning delights
With assurance we’re filled with goodness

Gifts of sharing a morning prayer at the table
Whispered softly and thanking God above
For all the sweet joys we’re sharing together
Joys of gentle faith, great hope and sweetest love
