Gets Me What I Want

GETS ME WHAT I WANT

I have never been a material girl,
putting the cart before the horse.

Just a little bit of a bougie girl,
unselfish but of course,

Not perfect by far, but perfectly loved,
by a love never nonchalant,

He’s a man who doesn’t have a lot,
but will try to get me what I want.

It could be a certain kind of thing,
that means little to someone else,

I could hide the fact I have a need,
to try and get it for myself;

But whether it is or whether isn’t,
makes no difference to my man,

If he finds out, no matter how great or small,
he'll get it in my hand.

My favorite dish, dessert, fruit, or treat,
A special flower in bloom.

To watch the sun rise on the water,
Or gaze at a silvery moon.

A walk along a beach hand in hand,
a drive at 2 a.m.

The desire conceived, he aims to please,
makes no difference to him.

He's my Knight in shining armor,
my anchor in this life,

It is why I will stick by and stand up for him,
through thick and thin, remain his loving wife.

He may not be so perfect to some,
didn’t say he has no flaw,

For better for worse right from the first,
We’ve been together burnt, well done, and raw.

Marriage ain’t for the weak, but strong and meek,
If you’re not ready by all means don’t.

There isn’t a man or woman today,
without some kind of past to haunt.

So I try to see and bring out the best in him,
Not trying to boast or flaunt.

But it doesn't matter what, this wonderful man,
He gets me what I want.
