Gasping For a Glimpse of You

From the haze, I had a chanced to see,
A vision that inspired me,
A future filled with love and light,
That cleared the shadows of the night.

You breathed new life into my soul,
And made my broken spirit whole,
With a gentle touch and loving gaze,
You lit a fire, set my heart ablaze.

But as I bent to take the knee,
The real world started choking me,
A tightening grip, my spirit chained,
In tangled webs, hope slowly drained.

You are the air I need for survival,
Lest I await the reaper’s arrival.
Slowly my spirit begins its surrender,
As suffocating ends my love’s defender.

My heart feels hollow, in endless pain,
A gaping void hoping to feel your love again,
For you have shown what love can be,
It calls to me like the devil’s apple tree

Yet in this hopelessness, light remains,
A flickering reminder that love sustains,
For even if I never see the dawn,
A brighter day may soon be born.

So let me dream of your embrace,
And seek the warmth of your dear face,
To breathe again, your fragrance so sweet,
To comfort my heart’s final beat.
