Love Poem: Full Bottle

Full Bottle

For quality a wine depends,
In part, upon its parent grapes.
But vintner’s art and loving care
Plain grapes may make a vintage prime.

And neglect produces vinegar
More often than does paltry fruit,
Which wants for the proper sweetness
To produce rare or noble wine.

Full bottle, you have served your time
Suppressed in the cellar’s cool clime.
Your personality is prime;
Your age is ripe enough; ‘tis time.

Sour not your spirit in the dark
For you have reached your proper peak.
Your luscious ruby lips I kiss
Give but a taste of sweet, sweet bliss.

Uncork your wine and let it flow.
Toss your bouquet and let’s away.
Waste no more precious years corked up
Lest bitterness ferment thy soul.
