Frozen Feather of Memory

In the cleavage of the reclined verdant bough,
ornate with the fine filigree of emerald foliage,
a lattice braided with the love-laced reeds
with finesse of desire motif of nest I weaved.

On the wings of winter afloat on northern wind
wilted leaves of belonging wafted away rustling,
my frosted nest clung to the skeleton of tree,
I counted in heartbeat footsteps of twilight hour.

Flair of yearning turning into glacial embrace,
you escaped, flew away to the sun blazed sky.
In the frosted debris pining in the arctic nest
I live in memory with the frozen feather you left.

The winter blizzard in my world without you
broke the folded wings of my frigid heart.
I can’t fly in the wake of your evanescing flight,
but wait, for I know in spring you will return.
