From Sonnets To Sonnet

FROM SONNETS TO SONNET
(Fourteen lines taken from nine sonnets)
She daydreams of a time long, long ago So many joys in oh so many ways. Sweethearts at school and sweethearts evermore, Saw only one another in their gaze Seeing nothing of those who milled around, Such love would last forever and a day. So how did love so perfect and complete Simply wither and just fade away? Summer days of youth have long since fled; Sadly Autumn follows summer’s heat; Suddenly, as shorter days grow cold, So passion dies as lovers are replete. Sitting there before the firelight’s glow She daydreams of a time long, long ago. 7th March 2021 Fragments of Verse poetry contest Sponsor - John Lawless
