Free Dog
Follow the wind as your guide
with your senses you survive
Roam the land with padded paws
taste of freedom feeds you raw
Feast upon turned garbage can
chase neighbor cats on a whim
Laugh at the dogs fenced and chained
howl at the moon freedom proclaimed
Leave your scent for other dogs to share
with each sniff your tales they hear
Growl and snarl to avoid fights
sleep under stars each night
Dream of that boy who loves you so
so many kisses and hugs he bestow
Up before the morning light
Racing to make the world feel right
Into familiar window you leap
upon bed where little master sleeps
You lick his face and see him smile
laughter hugs and tears for his best pal.
