I know i'm not the me you want me to be
and for that I have no excuse
I know how much you've put up with me
and that you didn't deserve such abuse
I know if you designed me I'd be a better man
all I would have to do is follow your plan
you'd tell me to blend in and don't stand out
and teach me what being ordinary is all about
my love for you transcends your wishes for me

yes, I get angry and try to blame other people or things
but it's trouble my irresponsibility brings
there are certain things I'd like to change if I could
but it's like trying to make a monkey from wood
