Love Poem: Found

Found

You don't go looking for a bicycle
And bring home a truck.
Nor looking for soap
A bucket of muck.

If looking for a rose
You bring home a cactus
You might want to ask yourself
"Why must I act thus?"

Love is as particular
As hot, as a lightning strike
It chooses it's path and avoidance
Grounding itself by the path most liked.

Choose not the dressing
Though we wear thoughts on a sleeve
Choose neither the casing
Least time make you leave.

Find those traits
That combine just so
Choosing your battleground
Loneliness, your foe.

When you know what you seek
What you want, what you need
You'll set aside gems
In your search, and be freed.

If looking for a truck
A bike won't make the cut.
A cactus won't become a rose
There's more road, less rut.

I thought love was a commodity
And all love, all fire, the same
Until I knew what I wanted
Only then burst I aflame.
