Forever Sisters
“On the firm stage of my dreary life one thing is true,
for there will never be another sister like you.
Saturated in loneliness was I that one day-
for you gave me life when I drowned in disarray.”
Laughter on Sundays with coffee in our hands-
(slipping slowly to make time last)
Believing in each other as sisters only can when
love runs as deep as it does for us.
You live six hundred miles away and each day I
miss you like a rose without a petal; a beach devoid
of sand-
(weeping tears of solitude)
We need only one thing to keep our bond genuine;
faith that we both can be what we need in turmoil.
For I have faith in you, and you see the best in me.
God gave you me and I couldn't be more grateful.
(crying tears of joy)
“I say to thee in a gentle hush
as I softly close my eyes-
I love you to the highest mount,
up to the highest skies”
I don't fear the kismet we face as we grow older.
We shall soar with togetherness and kindness-
I shall always be the one you need, and you shall
eternally be the one I adore with all my heart.
We played games when we were kids; UNO,
Boggle, Scattergories…
Each time you let me win; after all I was the
youngest...
the baby girl always needing her older sister.
I knew sisters loved but I never knew such depth
could spread hope like angel dust at midnight;
giving me ease of mind.
