Love Poem: Forbidden Pleasure

Forbidden Pleasure

Instead of rushing to romance danger
Listen to logic as senses dictate,
To look on with the eyes of a stranger
If only the heart could be made to wait,
Enjoy the delight we anticipate
In time true love has no thought to measure
If we dared trust the decisions of fate.
Who makes the rules of forbidden pleasure?

When lines become blurred and carelessly crossed
And eyes see beyond to what is not there
The heart lies battered, broken paying the cost
When I love you forgot to say I care.
The angry words that have threatened to dare
Remain as memories at pain’s leisure
And violated thoughts now simply stare.
Who makes the rules of forbidden pleasure?

Who could have known we were destined to love?
When in you I found the sweetest treasure,
The star that lit the nightly skies above
Who makes the rules of forbidden pleasure?
