My sadness has lingered through the years.
Thoughts of you, still brings me to tears.
It was about us, just you and me.
Many years together, it was supposed to be.
I still miss your sweet, beautiful face.
My gentle soul, you were of nature's grace.
You brought sound into my world of silence.
I gave you a haven, away from the violence.
You came to me, knowing only fear.
In time you were thriving and happy here.
I saw love in your crystal blue eyes.
That precious gift, a wonderful surprise.
Then one morning, you were suddenly gone.
I held you tightly, but your spirit moved on.
I think of you, missing you everyday.
Within my heart you will forever stay.
But, my sweet Maya, I believe you knew.
The depth of love that I had for you.
One day, we will meet again.
