Love Poem: For the Love of a Child

For the Love of a Child

The hardest thing for me is to see a child suffer,
To look into those eyes, it doesn’t get any tougher.
The world is so full of these fragile little beings that daily get turned away,
In search of a little food or a gentle caress to make their day.

And those that survive grow up with the bile taste of bitterness on their plate,
Because of rejection and abuse, they pass the torch, and align another child’s fate.
Like a revolving door, it just goes around and around,
Until someone reaches out with love and compassion, then a new life can abound.

Kind words and a smile can soften the hardest heart,
And it’s up to all of us to do our daily part.
Put on your happiest face when you are out and about,
For a smile is contagious in a world full of doubt.

Give children encouragement and adults the same,
Let’s live in a world where there is not any blame.
Take time to give thanks to our Father above,
Teach of His word and His undying offer of love.
