Love Poem: For Once

For Once

For once
I stare into the glass
To see a curious beauty staring back
My eyes glistened with tears
For if I had sooner seen my worth
What worlds would I have gained?

Heaving intelligence and great sorrow
I mute the jeers of disdain
Hiding their lies
With the surest gaze

For once
I am willing to accept her
This woman I have become
I want to drink her tears
And make poetry with her worth
I want her favorite world to be real

A world
With you
A soul that has fulfilled my own
That has noted my abilities
Through our cherished rainfall of words

For once
I breathe great joy in my stance
Setting free my fears to your open heart
Resting near my kindred delight
So that you may release your harmonies on me
And lead the woman in the mirror

Toward her indefinite beauty
To never allow her doubt to manifest again
To let her live newfound dreams
And awaken fresh with genuine smiles

Hold me in my favorite world
Be my ocean
In my reaching rivers
Touch your waters to mine
I wish you to gaze at yourself
And find me loving back
