For my mum

Dear Mum,
I'm finding it hard to grasp the words
To express how I truly feel
It's not easy to be vulnerable
As a man in this world
But, as your time is running out
And I scramble to spend it with you
I see the impact on our family
What losing you will mean, in truth
I know I'll need to be prepared
To step up for everyone
But inside I'm feeling broken
Because you are my beloved mum
I don't want to lose you
I don't want to let you go
So, please could you stay a little longer
'Cos I'm praying for you to come home
Perhaps I am deluded
Wishing for time to stand still for me
But I am dreading the moment
When I have to set you free
Please know that I'll love you forever
And that I am grateful to be your son
You are the best mum I could wish for
And you're a blessing to everyone
With love
