For Like a Storm

I was alone
I am alone

Alone is what you’ll be.
Dare to stand against your family?

The line of thought you think you have weighs no concern for me.
The need you seek to what? Full full your path, to light your destiny?

Your blood is here where it belongs; given to you it was through me.
These thoughts you have don’t take account for the sacrifice of me.
Your thoughts are alive as you’re alive... oh what? No thanks to me?

You fall in love, oh... you fall in love; you think that sets you free?
Family.
Me.
You fall in love, you fall in love, oh yes she’s real pretty!

You go back in that room tonight to be with family.
You sit and talk and laugh and smile and be like you used to be.

You give respect to me over her or alone is what you’ll be.
It’s cold outside, it’s Christmas time, the ice is slippery.

You know your place, you think you’re something?
Oh no, you’re nothing, nothing without me.

The choice is yours, you sit or walk but don’t you ever dare
disrespect your mother... don’t you dare ever disrespect me!
.
.
.
.
It’s cold outside, the ice is black, the moon sits over the trees.
The rain is cold, the wind is strong, a mile to her I’ll see.

You broke my heart, you sent me out in the dark, alone;
so for a mile that’s what I’ll be!
A mile to think, a mile to freeze, a mile to smile for me.

For I love her and what you can’t let in your mind is the fact......
.
.
.
.
that she loves me.
