Love Poem: Fool's Gold

Fool's Gold

To seem to be made of innocence is like having as one's assets, fool's gold
Why, is it not better to show one's true side in a manner, so bold
Pray, once upon a time, I did allow myself to be fooled
Once upon a time, eyes made of perfect innocence caused me to drool
But then,
Fate came with its magic wand
And bid me to clear my vision
Fool's gold would only drive me into severe derision!
How painful was this realization
Innocence is not, innocence plainly seems to be!

Innocence is just a fable for the romantic fool
The one to belong to the benches of the old school
Innocence and purity of being has been engulfed by toxic creepers
Creepers laden with the demands of society
To be taken onboard, I would have to be made of beauty and perfection
To be taken onboard, I would have to show that I can jump higher
To be taken onboard, I would have to show that I can put on a show as well
A show of being made of fool's gold, a show displaying that which is not
Why, life is such, a show made to fool others
But in the end, does life itself not laugh at us; it has fooled us with its game!
