Love Poem: Fold

Fold

I am tired of the same routine.
The hands they switch
and the bluffs between.
They got so used to playing,
lying became their win.

I never was good at this game.
I didn’t come to play,
I didn’t come to stay,
I just was, because she was there.

It didn’t seem fair,
but their addiction I never shared.
It was my fault, for I always cared
and bet my soul, so she can win.

Just like that, I was sold for sin,
lonelier that I have ever really been.
These bars are always full to the brim,
I walk by my lonesome,
on these empty streets, wishing I was in.

Some people will speak to hurt,
though I hear, I don’t believe I deserved,
it’s all alright, for although I heard,
I’d rather walk on by.

Now I don’t think I will again try,
for my hands are cold, my lips are dry.
I was here for the long ride,
she was here, not knowing moments go by.

So, I can no longer fight.
This game’s always been theirs, never mine,
my soul’s ripped apart but never mind,
I will truly be alright, for I walk into the night.

Though I wish I didn’t also lie,
for I still dream, to dive inside those eyes.
