Love Poem: Fleeting

Fleeting

If nothing good can last
Then nothing can ever be so good again
We use to say “the day doesn’t end until the night ends
Well I’m caught in this perpetual darkness
With sleepless days and misunderstandings
And dreams that come with eyes wide awake
Take it for what you will take it all so well
Did you laugh when it fell
Like a crash within a flash you were gone

Take it for granted, take it for what you will
Will this medicine put me to sleep or will I weep
Loud cries and dying feelings lie within a broken heart a broken soul
Carved out with memories of you
All reincarnated within simple tears pooled on a lonely pillow as I lie alone

I couldn’t let go, every time I seen you I’m sure I started to glow
With a red so bright and hopes in eyes that wish only not to cry
With tears failing to come replaced with burning eyes
I still remember, I still remember you
I live the events over and over again
Some have been through war
Battles lost and won
Laughs had, bad times filled with my bads
But few have lost it, few have lost the thing that means the most
Few have watched it blaze so bright, a testament, a guiding light
Now only a flicker of a candle with fleeting stray light
Off in the distance to make us remember

I’m crawling back there now, to a beautiful somewhere
I’ll wait there through winter’s bitter cold
And watch as the days grow old
I’ll live in a memory that won’t die
Never forget my old ties
One day we’ll all be back again and relive days of old
As the tears fall each one matching a passing year
I’ll wait for a life time so I can say it one last time before I die
And hear it fall upon your ears
The candle will flicker and dim to a dull red
Hope that I heard what you said
And then awaken deaf ears
Again it’s said I love you my dear
