Flashing Cursor

We are living in a high tech society
This 21st century of man's dwelling on earth
The planet growing smaller
Communication concludes the quest to know the unknown
We speak to people on the farthest latitudes
The people of the jungle, the people of the desert
As we keyboard the computer and read the illuminated screen
While seated by a window that reveals voluptuous clouds
That seem to touch the sea of cars and trucks below...
A window that blocks the surf of traffic and the call of gulls
Gathering on building tops
This window before me has uniform letters lines and spaces
Linking me to the world
The flashing cursor urges me to keep speaking with my letters
Communicate something to someone
Is it sufficient?Did I get my point across?
Will this person understand my words are who I am?
All we have is this screen
The flashing cursor urging us on...
Hurry, hurry ,write something, no time to ponder
No time to wonder ,What does he mean?
Should I ask him to clarify or let the moment go by?
Do you dare to rethink what I have just written
With my uniform letters and spaces?
I try to trace your thoughts and type it on my screen
But you are thinking that it is not what you really mean
I fall into the rabbit hole
A place strange and unnatural
The world outside my window surges through the wires
Becoming trapped inside my screen
Intangible, impersonal, vulnerable to each computer part...
If I could feel the color of your eyes
I would understand your heart
What technology did God use to turn Himself into a baby?
What high tech did he demonstrate when He made the blind to see?
How does He speak to an entire planet?
With what look did He cause a sinner to repent
And wash His feet with her tears?
With what light did He command demons to depart?
Jesus spoke right to the heart
Salvation accomplished by His hand
Tangible, personal, invincible
Touching the soul of this world
The very soul.
What technology did God invent that translated His Blood to mean
The salvation of man?
Something we will never understand.
