Love Poem: First Kiss
David Brown Avatar
Written by: David Brown

First Kiss

Hands still sweaty from clinging
together on that long walk
from our school,
to your door,
our first walk

We stand outside your
apartment building,
hoping our friends
won't stare too closely
at us

Like judges in
ice dancing,
waiting for us
to spin
and land awkwardly

Holding up their cards
tomorrow, for all to see
David and Ellen:
8.5 / 7.4 / 7.1
Humiliation

We press together,
lips firmly locked,
but grinding, as we
know kisses to be
from watching tv

Our teeth,
almost touch,
our tongues,
kept safely where they
belong

Our hands,
sweating anew
from the pressure
and excitement
of the moment

Judges, do we
have your scores?
David and Ellen:
10.0 / 10.0 / 10.0
Perfect
