Love Poem: First Impressions

First Impressions

I've never been one to make a statement
Neither have I wanted to shout my presence
But I noticed it's important if I'm to have second dates
Cause my phone hungs dry & I'm left to wonder what I did wrong

So instead of looking for the obvious
I'd change my style and even hang my shoulders
So that I have a change of walking style
With my chest popping out like a crest

Or I'd make my voice so sore
That when I talked it was too deep
A base that made my throat dry
Reaching out for a glass once the date was over

I once even tried a new wardrobe
Got them fancy clothes from the store
With some new sneaks on the floor
Only to mess my groove on the dance floor

So I made a mess most times on my first meets
And it took a lot to even get back in the good books
Cause the one thing they'd remember from our first meet
Is that I wasn't being me and I was off my game
