Love Poem: Fault

Fault

Why is it dear Lord,
others fault we can see?
Then while being dishonest
trying to hide ours from thee.
Oft times I sit and think
just how great life would be,
If each one but took
a little time to see,
the fault that lies within.

Sometimes we may fail
to exalt a brother's name.
But then quickly get miffed
when we're treated the same.
We're ruthless and petty
and often criticize.
But when examining ourselves
we can't recognize.
The fault that lies within.

If in life we would do
the very best that we could.
If we treated our brother
as we know we should.
If we wore a big smile
instead of that frown.
If we defended friends
instead of tearing them down.
There'd be less fault in all.
