Love Poem: Father of the Year

Father of the Year

I will never be in the running for Father of the year,
But I do not care,
Enough to shed even one tear,
This or any other year,
As to our three children I am father of the century here,
And I see them more than twice a year.

Three children,
Three in work.

Three children,
Three in good health.

Three children,
Three home for Christmas.

Three children,
Three not stoned out of their minds.

Three children,
Three without criminal records.

So why should I care,
About being Father of the year.

So why should I care,
If others say 'but the rules in your house were not fair',
And you should have followed this or that method we use here.

My answer,
When I am sure I won't swear,
Is that the proof is right here,
And the result is clear,
No parent can always be fair,
If they want their children to have the best chance, to be fair.
