Farewell
We gathered together to celebrate you.
Although you were not there.
It was something that we had to do,
having so much love to share.
We spoke of events from the past,
remembering all that you gave.
In our minds the memories will last,
special ones that we will save.
We prayed that you found the peace,
that you had been denied.
Your spirit's light, will never cease,
into forever, it will guide.
Music played, while voices sang,
the melody drifted up, to the sky.
Into the heavens, the church bells rang.
So beautiful, it was difficult not to cry.
We bid you farewell today,
but never a goodbye.
We will look for you along the way,
a fleeting shadow, may catch our eye.
