Farewell

There are singular times to be loved and to love, that was what I believed for so long, until you drifted in my life like a dove in the winds of yearning, proving me wrong. You flew in the timeless sky I called mine, the zephyr of romance never stopped to blow from the hued horizon of sunburst shine, flowers bloomed always in our hearts in astral glow. Like a stream you cascaded with fluid grace in the verdant valley I carved for you. The course to the serene sea we pledged to trace, find at blissful depth our entwined hearts anew. The journey we made together wasn’t easy, you found me lost in dark nights, didn’t know how. You became my second shadow beside me in the sunrise gleam and in the twilight hour now. My mute mind couldn’t express these farewell words, I wrote for you in verse, the last and the only one. You’d return to the nest at dusk like other birds, find my inscribed feather I’d leave when I’d be gone. ________________ July 2, 2022 Total word count : 176 (PS counter) Contest : Farewell Theme Rhyming Contest Sponsored by : Lisa YY
