Fame-A Winding Maze

Rode my bike to Frisco in the thick Caught up with old friends in the park Made love to my woman While the sun became the dark Hit chords of love On every note that rang out Give us more don`t stop The audience began to shout Short-lived this moment of fame Too many diversions all about Got lost in the smoke And the glare of purple haze Beginning of my wall of silence No ending to this winding maze Running through the motions A pretender with nothing left to share Mumbling words of discord Drowned by my comrades musical blare Carried this charade Through two summer`s heat Barely standing on my own Disguised by others keeping the beat Never showed for my final performance Forty years have passed since that day Disappeared into my world of mediocrity Jumped on my bike and road away
