Love Poem: Exterminating Angel

Exterminating Angel

What you have done to me defies my best description,
A downfall orchestrated by your self-absorbed affliction;
You saw me as what, a time filling, knee-jerk reaction?
A neurological stimulant, a meaningless distraction?

Was I so easy to kill, dismissed like a third-rate waiter,
Mere boil in the bag then throw away, a disposable vibrator?
Even though I saw it coming, transfixed I stood my ground
Like a rabbit in Mack truck headlights, waiting to be run down.

Such talent could decimate continents, such brilliant psychopathy
Demands a wider audience, not only performed for me;
With selfishness and callousness of unprecedented magnitude,
To rule the world, a cake walk, with this stupefying attitude.

How do you sleep at night and how do you find release?
With eyes shut tight and serene, I'll wager, soundly and at peace.
When I cannot relax one bit nor heed the midnight curtain call,
In caring for an empty thing that cares nothing for me at all.

When sleep does come, recurring dreams are all I ever get,
Of you in leather lingerie, toting machine-gun etiquette;
Eyes aflame, wings poised back, bloody lips a smiling span,
Exterminating me and my love, and all because you can…
