Love Poem: Escape

Escape

You sought comfort in a
cigarette
You sought help in the drink
You sought hope in a knife
You sought love in giving
yourself up
You searched and longed and
pleaded for an adoration that
wasn't yours to keep
You looked up
Stretching your arm, reaching
with your hand
For some sort of salvation
Even if it came at a price so
high
The price, of your heart
You held on tightly to a thread
that was always unraveling
It snapped and now all that
there is
Is to simply fall
Just falling, falling, and falling..
You hit the ground, and lie
there in your own despair
You close yourself off, curling
up in silent screaming solitude
You hide the quick drip drop of
tears
The agonizing pain
The mocking shame
You build up the walls that you
come to call friends
You shut everything out
You left everyone cold..
They tried and tried but you
didn't respond to anyone.
A silver wall can't save you
dear
A golden castle will not fill the
emptiness you now breath
I'll carve this into the wall until
you see what is here
My time is up..
I have to say good-bye
After I'm ripped away
After I'm gone
After there's nothing left
You'll see a ray
It'll surround you in a heart-
shaped light because even in
what you're going through
You're not alone.
Call my name, (and I'll hold the
pieces of your shattering heart
together)
Call my name, (and I'll sing
your song with you)
Simply ask me that one
question
And I'll never leave you.
