Love Poem: Echo Call

Echo Call

In the softness of a silvery night
when all is pale by the moon's blanketing light
i heard a swallow call your name

Somewhere out in the dark
beyond the trees in leaf and bark
i swear i heard your name

Underneath this blanket sheet
I think back to when we would meet
somewhere in this wonderland bed

underneath the pillowcase
i could see your smiling face
all bright in this wonderland bed

we held each other oh so tight
together each others' for the night
i swear i heard the angels call

i kissed your eyes like butterflies
you cried your sighs into long goodbyes
and with you gone the stars did fall

gone from here within this bed
you've left me with the life you led
and now i see you in the mist
looking for the little girl i missed

you have fled into the night
beyond my reach and out of sight
no more kisses to lay me down
just a voiceless echo sound

will you be there ever more
hiding where the angels soar
or will you come back and visit me
here in our home among the trees

i hope you do and wish you will
i hear your voice and my heart slows still
i gave you all i had to give
but it was i who had to live

you went away to heaven's arms
gracing god with your gentle charms
and here i wait until the day
that your love will come this way
