Easter Basket

E arly Easter morning, Amy Sue
A woke to find a basket by her door.
S he looked at it, then knew just what to do -
T o empty out its contents on the floor:
E ggs hard boiled, dyed, and sweet ones too,
R abbits made of chocolate, even more. . . 

B ut none of these an impact on her made.
A my rose to get her soft white shawl.
S he sought the dearest gift with which she’d played,
K issed the forehead of this baby doll,
E nfolded it and in the basket laid
T he babe she named for Him who gave His all.
