Love Poem: East of Jesus

East of Jesus

I feel the wind has stopped blowing
"cause I can't feel it on my face
The wine for years, that I've been toting
somehow has lost it's taste
My wheels are hung-up, just spinning
just spinning, wasting time
I see your portrait, hanging awkward
on the wall of my cluttered mind

So I'm looking all around, but
I just can not find a trace
Crooked houses, all around me
with an image of you haunting face
There's a devil in the darkness
and he's after me , I know
So I sit here in the sadness
as I watch your image glow

chorus

And I'm guessing I must be
By the visions I can see
'Cause the devil's followed me
All the way to East Jesus

Still I know I won't be leaving
as I sit here in this chair
Memories buried in the sand
seem to haunt me everywhere
But it's the only place with meaning
As life is slowing to a crawl
with my heart softly screaming
As your face, hangs on my wall

chorus

And I'm guessing I must be
By the visions I can see
'Cause the devil's followed me
All the way to East Jesus
