Love Poem: Dying Before My Time

Dying Before My Time

The moon bears the brunt of a dying storm that
foreshadows lovers who once shone bright with promise.
Sea waves fold over their affections as their lives rush to shore
unfolding as their love unravels at the water’s edge.

Love may be ephemeral but can be recaptured they say
I will accept whatever morsel of affection you dole out
but you should know I love you now and will until forever
YOU AND ONLY YOU.

Oh, but that I could, I'd take us back to prolong
those close intimate moments we swore were eternal.
Moments we enjoyed and my lingering in your matted forest
basking in my good fortune, appreciating every second.

Not so long ago we made glorious memories
what a joy it would be to recapture them again
but time is cruel, my love, it keeps slipping away
and I can't make time heel and behave.

Lover's beginnings are full of hope
In the end withering with regrets
Love does make cowards of us all, my sweet one,
and feelings die like waves on the beach.

But go pursue your illusion of love elsewhere, my love
Leave me with my feelings naked, alone
and my love decimated with heart exposed
dying before my time.
