Love Poem: Drifter

Drifter

People are wading about in the waters,
They are fighting with everything they've got,
Against tiny ripples that make no indentation,
On their souls, but yet, they fight against them.
I was them once upon a boat out in an ocean storm.
I fought and kicked and screamed until- exhaustion..
Turned my body down to fight the currents but I drowned.
I came gushing up for air and made sweet love to the oxygen,
As it came crashing into my soul full of trepidation.
I relieved myself of water from my lungs and carried on.
Now all I do is...drift...all I long to do;
Let the water carry onward, but all I will do is...drift.
I will see all the crying world breaking bones against the coral,
As they scream in vain to change things that they can't,
...But I will drift...
