Don'T Think That There's Tomorrow

On his way to work this morning
His truck lost to a big rig
He was running late and didn't take
The time to kiss his wife or his kids

And what seemed like a bad dream to them all
Was now reality

So don't think that there's tomorrow
When we're not promised today
Many who have opened eyes
Have failed to see night fall on that day

Nothing is a given in this life
So be sure to say goodbye

When they cut him from his truck
They found clenched within his hands
A picture of the four of them
On some beach out in the sand

You could see the love in all their eyes
But now you feel the pain inside their hearts

So don't think that there's tomorrow
When we're not promised today
Many who have opened eyes
Have failed to see night fall on that day

Nothing is a given in this life
So be sure to say goodbye

My grandfather hated goodbyes
So he always said so long
And I remember at his funeral
How a sick man stood strong

To tell him one final time farewell
Until we meet again

So don't think that there's tomorrow
When we're not promised today
Many who have opened eyes
Have failed to see night fall on that day

Nothing is a given in this life
So be sure to share your love

It wasn't but a week or so
That he'd also be called home
So I had to go and honor him
For the respect that he'd shown

The measure of a man is in his actions
Not only in his words

So don't think that there's tomorrow
Cause we're not promised today
Many who have opened eyes
Have failed to see night fall on that day

Nothing is a given in this life
So be sure to say goodbye
